   Creatures scurry about, as you enter the room.  Not a single creature
seems to be sitting still as you walk through.  The grass is a remarkable
bright green, attracting your attention as it waves slowly back and forth
in the wind.  The path here ends at a rising stone wall to the east and
south.

   The Mage's Guild and School stands like a colossus just off the road
toward the southwest.  It was the high council of that guild who gave this
road its name long ago.  There is certainly magic at work on the very road
itself, for it is unlike any other walkway in the whole of the city, or
perhaps the world.  Open-doored buildings stand to the east and west, each
having a sign near its entrance.  Most of the townspeople of Moldavia are
entirely illiterate, especially the poor.  As a result the shopkeepers use
a system of carved or painted pictures on their signs to let the people
know what is available.

   This road runs eastward just along the inner edge of the city wall.  It
is a basic dirt road, bordered on the outside by the wall itself, and on
the inside by bricks made of rough stone.  The bricks are each about a foot

road.  On top of this first layer, one brick is placed every few feet,
making a semi-decorative "wall" that would serve better to stub your toe on
than keep anything out.

   The stone border running along the inner edge of the road stands only a
little over a foot off the ground, and opens up whenever wall road
intersects with one of the main city streets.  The road continues to the

Viderman Avenue at the North Wall
    Here is where the towering black aqueduct finally enters the city from 
its sources in the heart of the northern mountains.  It stands on three high 
tiers of arches, with each tier being shorter than the one below it.  The 
bottom arches stand nearly twice the height of the city wall, and easily 
stretch over it to bring the fresh water to the townspeople.  The main 
line of aqueduct continues southward from here, down along the edge of 
Viderman Avenue.  A smaller section taps the water running from the main 
aqueduct and heads westward along the edge of wall road, to the water 
supply and bath house.

Road Along the Northern Wall
   This road runs eastward just along the inner edge of the city wall.  It
is a basic dirt road, bordered on the outside by the wall itself, and on
the inside by bricks made of rough stone.  The bricks are each about a foot
long, and are set end to end in a single layer running down the edge of the
road.  On top of this first layer, one brick is placed every few feet,
making a semi-decorative "wall" that would serve better to stub your toe on
than keep anything out.

    The bustling city spreads out before you to the south.  Here is the
place where just about anything (or anyone) can be bought and sold if 
the price is right.  Being a thouroughfare for many peoples from around
the land, the city guards and most of the townspeople are used to and 
tolerant of all races.  It would be wise, however, to try to stay out of
trouble, especially with the merchants, who are the real citizens under
the protection of the guard.

   Having emerged from the northern mountain passes, you arrive at a
fortified double gate.  A set of two heavy iron doors are mounted on solid
square columns of glossy black stone.  The top of each column is fashioned
into the snarling head of a lion, and the curved black top of the doorframe
has a series of waving green flags posted on it.  Extending from these
columns, the city wall runs to the east and west along the edge of the
mountain line.

to your south, offering protection from the vicious mountain inhabitants.

peaks of the Crescent Range standing tall, and to the south sits the grand
